We study the structural biology of bacterial virulence proteins. Methods used include: bacterial genetics, site-directed mutagenesis, PCR, gene expression systems, protein purification, crystal growth, bioinformatics, x-ray crystallography and TEM.
The food system, which includes all of the steps involved in producing food and getting it to our plates, has become increasingly complex. "Food system detectives" are needed to uncover recent changes and present them a visual format.
The objectives of this proposal are 1) to develop an environmentally friendly active package for prolonging the shelf-life of blueberries and 2) to reduce both economic losses to blueberry growers and producers and environmental problems
The project scope is to investigate the thermochemical conversion of woody biomass to fuels and chemicals. An economic model for thermochemical conversion is to be formulated. Data from a pyrolysis reactor will be used to refine the model.
