National Energy Technology Lab (NETL) –Image Analyst Research Opportunity in Albany, Oregon

The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) seeks a motivated undergraduate or graduate student interested in researching as part of the Geology & Geospatial Analysis Team.

This role is within the Geologic and Environmental Sciences directorate at the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL).

Depending on skills and background, applicant may be asked to assist with: • Producing datasets, including images, graphs, and tables. • Writing portions of interpretive and data reports and assisting with preparation of data for publication or scientific conferences.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of: • Scanning electron microscope (FEI and JEOL) including cathodoluminescence, potentially a dual beam focused-ion beam (FIB)-SEM. • Image processing software using INCA, PerGeos software, and Photoshop (or equivalent). • Data interpretation.
