Duration: August 2018 - November 2018 (with possibility of extension depending on performance and funding)
In the Applied Nematology Lab, we work with many different commodities throughout Michigan including: potatoes, carrots, soybeans, corn, day lilies etc. Our goal is to assist different commodity groups and industries in managing critical nematodes issues through research and extension.
Responsibilities: as an undergraduate assistant you will be expected to: process soil to extract nematodes, complete laboratory protocols, collect data in field, greenhouse or laboratory settings, and maintain a clean greenhouse and lab atmosphere.

Required Qualifications: - Immediate availability and ability to work a minimum of 10 hours per week. - Must be willing to work for long periods outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. - Must have a valid driver’s license with good driving record and be willing to share driving responsibilities. - Good attention to detail and protocols - Ability to work individually or as a group
Preferred Qualifications: - Major in entomology, zoology, fisheries and wildlife, environmental science, biology, or related field - Interest in agriculture or greenhouse crop production - Experience with data entry - Ability to lift 40 pounds
