The Omo-Turkana Research Network is an international consortium of social and environmental scientists researching the impacts of hydrological, agricultural, and social change on the people and ecosystems surrounding the Lower Omo Valley and Lake Turkana (Ethiopia and Kenya). It's website (https://www.canr.msu.edu/oturn/), facebook (https://www.facebook.com/OTuRNnews/) and twitter (https://twitter.com/OTuRN_news) are managed at MSU. As the co-director of OTuRN (Dr. Jenny Hodbod, Department of Community Sustainability), I am looking for assistance in managing its communications - i.e. creating content for regular updates for the website, facebook page, and twitter, managing the affiliate lists on the website, and assisting with the creation of briefing notes.
The position will require ~5 hours per week. Position funding available for this semester (Spring 2019) but position potentially could continue afterwards if further funding is found.
If interested, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with a short (250 word) summary of your relevant experience. Applications will be reviewed on Jan 14th and then on a rolling basis.
Skills and experience in website management (preferably using MSU's chosen system of dotCMS) and social media management. High-quality written work. Helpful to have a background in environmental science, international development, anthropology, geography, or sustainability for understanding the content, although I will assist with specifics.
