Research Summary:
Shaun is investigating the impact of traumatic brain injury (TBI) on young brains. Given the lack of reliable TBI markers, his research aims to identify potential indicators of brain damage. Using a pig model, he compared brain tissue from animals with mild TBI to healthy controls. By analyzing changes in white matter, Shaun discovered a significant reduction in this critical brain tissue in the injured animals. These findings offer new insights into TBI and pave the way for further research to develop diagnostic tools and treatments.
